I join the faculty at Ensemble Evolution for online workshops and lectures, for my second summer with this exemplary training program.
Created by International Contemporary Ensemble founder Claire Chase, and longtime Ensemble artist-in-residence Steven Schick, Ensemble Evolution brings a tireless commitment to fostering a holistic understanding of the artist as a global citizen in a boundary-pushing collaboration with The New School's College of Performing Arts (CoPA) in New York City. Through workshops, conversations, and world premiere performances alongside the faculty, Ensemble Evolution participants engage in music making, community building, and creative producing. The program, from approximately June 22nd to July 2nd, hosts performances at the highest caliber with musicians dedicated to transforming the way music is created and experienced.
Over the course of the program, participants will take responsibility for programming, rehearsing, and producing concerts, working alongside the Ensemble, CoPA faculty, guest artists, and community partners. Ensemble Evolution invites creative artists into a collaborative environment that fosters social consciousness and new modes of community-building through music, imagining pathways forward for the future of collective music making.
